Update on the mechanical spider project for @RiskofRain, I got to talk to one of the artists for the latest DLC! he gave me some sound advice of simplifying the textures so the shaders can handle the visuals easier. Next step is importing into the engine. #riskofrain #b3d

side note: If anyone knows how to fix the delay in tracking for the pistons on the leg, please let me know! they all seem to be delayed by 1 frame and I'm stumped on how to fix it. the bone its tracking to is also set to track it so maybe that's causing delay?

Here you can take a look at the guts of armature I made. The tiny bones at the end are what the IK is chaining to, and the piston on the leg uses a "damped track" and "stretch to" modifier. All the legs use the same animation, i just offset two of them to make it walk properly.

Just finished the walk animation for my mechanical spider project! I made an IK rig to follow a vector path for the walk animation, so it's easy to make adjustments to the step spacing if needed.

Texturing finished! I used the UCUpaint plugin to texture everything, and it really came in clutch for edge wear. I tried making my own dirt and rust using noise textures, and they came quite nice for how simple they are! #b3d
