Earlier this afternoon, multiple gunmen opened fire at the Mall of Louisiana. Since then, I have been in constant communication with law enforcement officials. I can tragically report that one life has been lost and several others have been injured. Those affected include students from Ascension Episcopal School in Lafayette. At this time, multiple suspects have been taken into custody, with others at large. I urge the public to send any information they may have to law enforcement. These senseless tragedies must end. Sharon and I are praying for all those who have been impacted today. We are committed to holding accountable every person involved. I want to thank our incredible first responders for quickly responding to the scene and saving lives.
