I went out to bat HARD for John Davidson after he shouted the N word at black actors and producers at the BAFTAs; against many in my own community. Davidson apologised, and his use of a racist slur was explained by his disability and I extended grace and forgiveness. So here is the uncomfortable question. Kanye West has bipolar disorder. He has said his antisemitic outbursts are linked to it. He has apologised, more than once. Yet the reaction is entirely different. Let me be clear. West’s antisemitism is vile. It is not edgy, it is not excusable, and it causes real harm. In the same way, a white person using the N word does. Both should be condemned without hesitation. But condemnation is not the same as consistency. If we are prepared to treat disability as a mitigating factor in one case, we cannot simply ignore it in another because the individual is more controversial or the offence feels less convenient to forgive. Either disability meaningfully shapes responsibility, or it does not. Either apologies carry weight, or they do not. If we only extend grace selectively, it stops being a principle and starts looking like preference.

@LindaPears87262 When did we become? The UK has been a Christian country for more than a millennium. You can’t judge the last 69 years of atheism / secularism and say that’s the history of Christianity in the UK. Also, going to church for major events is not being a Christian.

Please don't misunderstand this tweet. I respect a person's religious beliefs & right to celebrate them but; when did we become obsessive about Christianity in the UK. I'm 69 & the only time we went to church was a wedding, christening or funeral.

This is fantastic. Croydon decided to implement Low Traffic Neighbourhoods, blocking cars from accessing various roads and fining people £160 per infraction. They ran the scheme for two years. Now the High Court has ruled them unlawful as they were implemented for profit and not to reduce traffic at all. Millions of pounds must be returned to people who were fined. If you were fined during that time you have to request a refund.

One of my favourite TV shows is checking on the Instagram status of one of my cousins - who says he is defo not part of MI6 - traipsing across Europe and other countries almost every other day lol (Yes I know that by reason of leaving his location on that he’s defo not MI6 😂)
