There are a lot of questions about the weather forecasts from yesterday. Fortunately, there was not any damage from severe weather. Severe thunderstorms are very atypical for the area and although the risk was slight, advanced notification was important due to the risk.

A wintery mix of precipitation is in store with type and accumulation varying significantly based on elevation. Daytime temperatures though will be warm which will aid in some melting at lower elevations. For those above 1500 ft expect all precipitation to fall as snow. (1/3)

@FurrKnight It certainly has been dry this month :/. Fortunately, model guidance continues to show a return to a more typical cool and wet weather pattern beginning at the very end of the month, continuing into February. Hopefully that pattern will hold for awhile before summer hits.

Have you noticed days are starting to get longer? We will gain over an hour and a half of additional daylight over the next five weeks alone, with the sun rising before 7 AM by the end of February with a sunset near 6 PM. Enjoy!

After nine dry days in a row, rain is finally working back into the area today. Rain will continue spreading inland today with additional rain showers expected Saturday night through Sunday, as well as Cascade snow. Drying out Sunday night into Monday as high pressure returns.
