My Statements in the Official Records Have Been Falsified!
At the hearing held on 24 June 2025 at the Khatai District Court regarding the extension of the investigation in the case known as the “Meydan TV case,” I made the following statement:
"For many years, I have never forgotten these words from Khaled Hosseini’s The Kite Runner:
“There is only one sin, only one. And that is theft. Every other sin is a variation of theft... When you kill a man, you steal a life. You steal his wife's right to a husband, rob his children of a father. When you tell a lie, you steal someone's right to the truth. When you cheat, you steal the right to fairness”.
I say this with strong reasons. Since my arrest on 6 May, I have been subjected to numerous violations of the law. I was subjected and the reasons to violence and threats of rape at the Baku City Police Department. A search was carried out in my home without a lawyer present. I was denied access to the lawyer I had chosen. Investigator Alibala Hajiyev and police officers counted the money they had planted in my home without wearing gloves. I made numerous notes in the official records, stating that I had never touched that money at all.
Recently, in the response to motions submitted by my lawyers, the investigative body claimed that I had allegedly requested the state-appointed lawyer Sevdiyar Bayramov. They also stated that I had made no mention of any violations in the records of the house search. This response makes it clear that the investigation has falsified the records, destroyed the notes I made, and forged my signature in the protocols. The law in Azerbaijan is merely a shell, stripped of any real function.
It has now been 49 days since my arrest, which clearly shows that the falsification by the investigative team is still ongoing.
When I was in the pre-trial detention facility, a former investigator from the Baku police asked who my interrogator was. I said it was Alibala Hajiyev. He replied, “I know him. He is even not able to write his own name.” I answered, “He has only learned how to tear up protocols, so he never had time to learn how to write.”
