This corner of the city centre is undergoing a huge renaissance with Mackies Corner Sunderland and The Elephant Tea Rooms similarly being restored.

The new venue has been the passion project of Roxborough Plant & Construction Ltd, Sarah Leathem, the property owner & Sarah's father John Curran, Blaine Leathem and many others who have put their dedication and hard work into this, including builders, artists and electricians.

The update you have all been waiting for! Saturday 23rd November The 3 Stories will open its doors. The incredible restoration of this building on High Street West has been a much anticipated development.

With the Northern Spire as a backdrop, the new film studios combined with major city centre developments, will help put the city on the national and international map. I can't wait to post regular updates on this!

A key goal of the regeneration is to diversify the city by attracting more residents and workers, boosting footfall for local businesses. The new film studios will be a true game-changer, creating 8,000 new jobs and attracting all kinds of new people into Sunderland.

The transformation of the city is moving at a rapid pace, with major projects complete, under construction & new ones just beginning, like the Crown Works Studios on the banks of the Wear. The government has just confirmed £25m in funding, & initial groundworks will begin soon.

It's fantastic to see another old building being revitalised. This project will complement the area's vibrant businesses, such as Pop Recs Ltd and Sunshine Co-operative, as well as the upcoming Villiers/Nile Street development.

145 High Street West is a historic building dating back to 1797 with Charles Dickens once staying here when performing in the city. Vaux Brewery are currently restoring this beautiful building and will soon reopen the historic 'Bridge Hotel Vaults' pub.

Latest photos from Culture House: The new landmark building is set to be completed next year and will, among other things, house the city's library, host exhibition and gallery spaces, and provide a permanent home for local history and archive collections.

The pavilion, which will be located at Keel Square, is also under construction. This temporary glass 'house' will feature an immersive screen and a viewing platform, offering fantastic views of the Culture House development.

Great news. This will help accelerate plans for the new housing developments across Riverside Sunderland and Sunniside.

Photos 1 & 2. Massive regeneration projects are transforming the city. The @makerandfaber buildings at Riverside Sunderland are nearing completion, and together with the new footbridge, they’ve reshaped the skyline. Both office buildings, in my opinion, look really smart. 1/2

The cityscape has been transformed over the last couple of years, and what once felt like a place time had forgotten now feels full of energy. It’s still a work in progress, but the future is exciting.

Yesterday, the central section of the new Wear Footbridge went into place. The new bridge links Sheepfolds, the Stadium of Light , and the wider city centre, and it will be completed by next summer.
