Soccer careers are volatile by nature. Clubs get new ownership. Coaches get fired. Budgets get cut. Strategies change overnight. I've seen incredibly talented people lose their jobs through no fault of their own. But…when you lose a job or miss an opportunity, you also have a choice. You can let it define you negatively. Or you can use it intentionally. I’ve been let go twice - and both led directly to the best chapters of my career because I used those setbacks intentionally. Based on my experience, here’s how I’d suggest you use setbacks strategically: - Use the forced downtime to learn skills you've been putting off - Reach out to people you've been meaning to connect with and take meetings you wouldn't have had time for - Think about where you actually want to go next instead of rushing back to the same role If you're in a setback right now, extract every lesson, connection, and growth opportunity you can. The next chapter is around the corner. --- If you found this helpful, consider signing up for my free soccer industry newsletter below, Pathway:

Genuinely curious if it’s just me or if others are the same… Do you find it nearly impossible to see the goals on StatsBomb’s shot maps? 😅 because goals are indicated with a tiny extra border line, I really struggle lol especially when there’s a lot of shots
