At the @GCCMobility and Robert Bosch Stiftung side event “Rising Seas, Rising Risks,” I reaffirmed the Maldives’ steadfast commitment to addressing sea level rise, underscoring the need for stronger international cooperation and global solidarity to safeguard climate-vulnerable nations. For the Maldives, rising seas are an urgent reality—threatening our security, economy, and community wellbeing. Despite contributing little to global emissions, our economy remain highly exposed. We therefore call for urgent, collective action to translate commitments into concrete support for those on the frontlines of climate change.
