Happy Halloween from GCEC 👻🎃 We had a fun gathering yesterday which included pumpkin carving and a Halloween movie!

Dr Ji-Eun Byun and her colleagues delivered a training workshop in the Philippines for local engineering officials. The workshop successfully demonstrated that dedicated training sessions can make technically intensive tools accessible to non-experts.

Last week was good for us. We successfully held a well-attended minimposium on #ECCOMS2024 in #Lisbon about open-source software, with good speakers and representation. Moreover, MoFEM (@mofemjoseph) has been accepted as an affiliated code to @NumFOCUS.

An improved version of this paper is now published in Computational Mechanics and can be freely downloaded from doi.org/10.1007/s00466… Shell buckling is often studied under compressive loads but interesting bifurcations happen when shells undergo large inflation (eg balloons)
