We had similar economic Sword of Damocles over Putin yet 20% of Ukraine now belongs to Russia and American-European relations have been deeply stained.
We may feel that this is a significant point of strategic leverage. But it may not be as significant to Xi. Many angles to speculate from.
If China invades Taiwan, the most important factor for Xi to consider is whether or not the United States responds militarily — not if Trump throws 500,000 faceless Hans into camps & confiscates assets.

You could literally give the $28 billion we spend on HIV/AIDS or start taking billions from Social Security, Medicare, foreign aid, etc. and give it to 500,000 young Americans every year to do just this.

Amazing how we get routinely mogged by tiny Latin American nations like El Salvador or the Dominican Republic on basic governance tasks like locking up violent criminals, or deporting foreigners.
It’s almost like all our problems are 100% a matter of will, not capacity.

The DR mass deported 380,000 Haitians last year and 120,000 so far in 2026… They are doing it to enforce their immigration laws, protect their national sovereignty, prioritize their citizens and ease public services. No one is protesting or calling them Nazis.

Both the Hart-Celler Act of 1965 and the additions to it in the early 90s need to be repealed. So many examples of putting American citizens last in those pieces of legislation.
