@katymcguinness Totally agree, the apparent reluctance of so many restaurants to do this is hard to understand. If it's a genuine booking there's no reason for anyone to object and the advantages are obvious.

Fascinating! Sadly the places name checked in Northern Highlights are all gone (also the still-missed Sunday Press in which they featured), but the Magimix Pastry - one of the handiest ever recipes- is in my vintage cookbook The Best of Irish Breads & Baking (still in print).
