@GFEST_GFAN Again. I understand why you made the decision legally. I take *heavy* offense that you would publicly say that fan artists are stealing when they are making art inspired by Godzilla if we want to sell our hard work. This was a huge mask off moment

So you’re suggesting we risk being shut down for this for an artist who feels entitled to sell prints of characters they do not own? Do you have any idea how many vendors and artists depend on the convention for income? My attitude is very, very concerned with protecting the vendors and artists who are following the law , respecting the companies that own these characters, and working hard to provide for themselves and their families. I will never consider putting those people at risk for someone who simply won’t get a license and/ or believes they’re entitled to break the law. As stated before, there’s no issues with original artwork. If you find it so awful we won’t put those people at risk then this is not the show for you and it will never be.

I’m not sure what you’re not understanding. Original art is fine. Making prints of art that has a licensed character is not. Nothing has ever changed about that. The comment that you are cutting the entire context out of is that we own the character that we announced we will be selling prints of.

@GFEST_GFAN So anyone selling the fan art that they worked on for hours, pouring their hearts and souls into their work are thieves. When you told us that we couldn’t sell art prints because of copyright laws we said “that sucks, oh well.” But this tells us how you really feel

This is extra infuriating becsuse not only did they decide to not allow people to sell prints, cutting out *all* digital artists (which, arguably, is the safest bet to keep Toho happy. So it was just an accidental “fuck you” to the art comment) but now fan artists are thieves?
