Nobody talks about the most important Mad Men episode where Don takes his new wife to a roadside diner that he idealized as a child, and she says the orange sherbert tastes gross. He abandons her there and she has a scary time going home and then he comes to the apartment and falls on his knees apologizing. I probably am sick in the head but this taught me to NEVER be a Megan. If you love someone your job is to protect their self-image and rosy up their memories as much as you can. Love demands a certain amount of sycophancy
