Sadly, this younger generation seems to prefer the synthetic to the genuine. It probably is a lifetime of being raised on reality tv and video games. Give them an entertaining simulacrum vs. a more "boring" but legitimate competition and they will choose entertainment every time. Kind of reminds me of that scene in the Matrix with Joe Pantoliano's character where he says he knows the steak isn't real but he doesn't care. Frightening really.

Imagine all these so-called F1 fans who actually like drivers having to slow down in corners and supporting these ridiculous new rules about batteries. It shows what Netflix viewership is all about. If you're congratulating winners under these rules, you're pretty much a video gamer, Super Mario-type individual. Formula One is the pinnacle of motor racing with the best drivers in the world, getting paid millions to push to the limits and set up the best cars with the best teams in the world. This was true since the first race held in the 1950 British Grand Prix on May 13, at Silverstone, where Giuseppe 'Nino' Farina won for Alfa Romeo in front of over 100,000 spectators and British royalty.
