The New Redesigned Tesla Semi is BADASS. Here’s a summary from Jay Leno’s new video on it:
• 1,000 lbs weight reduction vs previous Gen.
• 7% aero dynamic efficiency improvement.
• 0.4 Drag Coefficient
• Independent truckers are able to buy a Semi for use, not just fleet owners
• Semi doesn’t use unique tires. Off the shelf tires will work.
• Just like passenger Tesla vehicles, the Semi has regenerative braking.
• Tesla Semi fleet (few hundred trucks) have driven more than 13.5M miles.
• Tesla’s lead truck has 440,000 miles on the odometer.
• Semi fleet uptime is up 95% uptime due to extremely low maintenance and reliability.
• 75-80% of Semi breakdowns are resolved and returned to the customer in less than 24 hours.
• Tesla has integrated safety features in the Semi to protect not just the driver, but others on the road as well.
• Tesla is working on Semi Wireless Charging, so drivers can just drive over a pad and automatically charge.
• Semi went from a hydraulic assist steering system, to now a fully electric assist steering system (not steer-by-wire).
• Semi uses Cybertruck steering actuators, but beefed up.
• Semi is now has a 48V Architecture
• Semi uses the same 4680 cells found in Cybertruck.
• The battery in Semi is designed to last 1M miles.
• Two variants of Semi: 500 mi range & 325 mi range
• Semi can power a whole refrigeration trailer or any powered unit. The technology is shared with Cybertruck Powershare.
• Semi has two rear axles. One for torque, which is geared for acceleration, while the second one is geared for efficiency. This eliminated the need of a two-speed transmission. (Impressive!)
• The turning radius in the Semi Standard (325 mi range) is about the same as a Model 3/Y.
Truly an incredible piece of engineering, congrats @danWpriestley and team!
I can’t wait to see these all over.

We're monitoring a rapidly developing wildfire in the Texas Panhandle. The Hutchinson Fire near Fritch, TX has expanded to 2,000 acres and is just 5% contained. Record heat and 7% humidity are driving aggressive fire behavior ahead of a dangerous cold front. #TXwx

Another day of my Tesla driving me smoothly, safely, and effortlessly through Los Angeles while I sat back and relaxed. I didn't have to buy gas at $6 a gallon, I just plugged in when I got home.
Why is it that the greatest product I've ever owned faces so much hatred and resistance the forces of the status quo at every angle? Why do so many people lie and try and keep the public from technology that could change their lives for the better?
Every time I see a Tesla on the street I smile knowing how hard TSLAQ fought to wipe this company off the face of the earth, and how hard we fought back for a crazy dream that has now become a vivid reality.

This is fine.

@Teslarati All of the above. Works perfectly. In fact we had about 8” of snow and no roads were plowed, I felt like it was going faster than I would. The Beast knows better than I

How many people have taken Full Self-Driving on:
-Snow-covered roads
-Foggy routes
-Torrential downpour drives
-Single-lane backroads with gravel
...and had ZERO issues?

🚨 The NHTSA said it was upgrading a probe into Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (Supervised) platform to an “engineering analysis” It will examine 3.2 million vehicles and aims to determine its effectiveness in evaluating degraded road conditions

NEWS: Tesla is asking a Colorado federal court to throw out a suit alleging that a defect in its Autopilot technology led to a fatal car crash, saying the evidence now shows that Autopilot was not on, and that the driver was drunk well beyond the legal limit. law360.com/productliabili…
