The fact that Tennessee is not only missing on transfer prospects, but not even getting them on campus is legitimately concerning. UT has had one single DB commit, that is simply not enough. There’s always spring, but it’s better now than later. Idk what’s going on.

I really do feel bad for Max Gilbert. Statistically speaking he’s been excellent. I think people probably don’t realize how big he’s been at times for the team. That being said, if nothing else, you have to show up in the big moments and there were just too many that he didn’t.

What Tenn does in the portal at QB is based on when they want their HS QBs playing. Do they start in their 3rd year? If so, how many 5* HS QBs are willing to wait that long? But do you compromise your team or a QB’s long-term ceiling to get him on the field in his 1st-2nd year?

@tyleryates0 @joeypetersen8 We absolutely do need to hit the portal hard, especially on the backend. Our talent on our defense far exceeds the performance that was put on the field this year though, injuries didn’t help, and they were the youngest defense in the SEC. I think we’ll see a flash next year.

@GISmotabe @joeypetersen8 Yeah but Ohio has always had the talent on defense. We not only had a coaching issue, we’ve had a personnel issue on defense. Need to develop and hit the portal hard. Doesn’t matter who the coaches are if we don’t have sec caliber players at all levels of our defense

Vol fans, if you wanted a quick fix, Jim Knowles is not the answer. His defenses notoriously take years to learn, but once it's down, it's lethal. Knowles on learning his defense: “It’s never a finished process, and how quickly we can move forward with it this year depends on how quickly the players keep learning. Right now, it’s at a really rapid pace. [We’ll] just keep pushing forward as long as they’re handling everything.”
