Every country has a religious leader who acts as the conscience of the nation and with the strength of conviction that is respected even by their fiercest critics. For Zambia, that honour fell to Telesphore Mpundu, the retired Archbishop of Lusaka, who died yesterday aged 78.

Heartbreaking to watch GBM’s current state; once a respected Vice President to President HH, he abandoned him at the 11th hour, hurled insults and rejoined the PF. (On one Radio program he said HH could eat poop💩just so he becames President) Now he’s serving prison time for multiple corruption cases, with his health deteriorating. Many are urging HH to pardon him. I don’t recall GBM ever retracting the awful words he said about his former ally. Not that it should change his legal fate but it might have brought him some personal peace. Remember when late President MCS realizing his time was almost up, apologized to late President Mwanawasa? We all know what followed; God saved his life and made him President. A sincere 'sorry' is truly underrated.

I absolutely love Zambia. Had a good job in SA but for the nearly 20 yrs I lived there, literally counted days until my kids would be done with sch & I could return. My friends & family thought I was crazy to start afresh but have not regretted a single minute.
