@GKostern @AnthonyDiComo For Stearns to get fired before Mendoza? Yes, absolutely. I agree! 👍
English

@michaelgbaron That’s completely fair….however, it’s a managers job to get the most out of the players he has. He clearly hasn’t done that! He literally says the same thing ever loss with no energy or accountability.
English

As far as Carlos Mendoza is concerned, he’s the face of this mess but this isn’t his fault. He may eventually pay the ultimate price for it, but people should be aiming higher. #Mets

I am warming up big time to move on from Mendy — clearly in over his head.
And don’t get me wrong on Stearns - like everyone else I was incredibly excited to get him. Life long Met fan.. smart guy.. all of it.. but he’s been such a disappointment.. took WAY too long to address the pitching last year, a problem mind you, of his own making… and now the whole smug nerd talk… sounds like Alderson… wearing thin.
English

How many times did those three make the playoffs? How many times were they on winning teams?
Nicole 🥀🧚🏻♀️@niicolegee12
Pete Alonso, Jeff McNeil, and Brandon Nimmo are all laughing bc the front office thought they were the problem lmaooooo I hope you keep losing you bums @Mets

@OhtaniFan23 @CaseyJ_516 I’ve been a die hard fan my whole life. Until Alonso hit that “magical” home run in Milwaukee, the same “loyal” fans wanted nothing to do with him and were crucifying him all over social media. I’m loyal to Blue and Orange not one player and damn sure not an executive.
English

@GKostern @CaseyJ_516 "Pete Alonso slurper" we're Mets fans bro and he's the franchise leader in home runs
Any actual fan would have more loyalty to a player than an executive
I bet most Yankees fans are Aaron Judge slurpers and most Phillies fans are Bryce Harper slurpers, wtf are you on about
English

We don’t know dude.. there’s intangibles that aren’t on a spreadsheet but for my money I don’t exile a generational Met who came to work every day for a guy who never played the position and missed 200+ games the previous 4 seasons. Guys are playing all out position.. there’s still a glut of middling infielders that they don’t know what to do with.. this list goes on. Roster construction after an absolute shitstorm last 4 months of 2025 has been awful.. we’re well on our way to 46 pitchers again.. list goes on.. they don’t have a clue
English

@DannyAbriano It has to be on Mendoza. Right or wrong it doesn’t really matter. Just like with Girardi in Philly. Someone has to take the fall to say enough is enough with this type of play.
English

@GoodFundies If we’re going to roast Stearns on all the bad moves, we need to give him credit on positive ones. Small sample size but Jett is hitting .173 at AAA and Sproat has been horrid to start this season. As has Pete so maybe let’s not overreact to 16 games of the season
English

The 2026 Mets are still ok, and will compete for the NL East. But we have MLB's #1 payroll & have traded away a lot of talent for this roster. David Stearns has been an absolute disaster.
- Bichette cost a comp pick & intl. pool $ and $42M, plus he gets $5M if he opts out.
English

@jerkyboykamal @BMiggy Maybe just maybe the clubhouse issues did involve Pete. That’s the thing, fans want to scream that the Mets didn’t show loyalty to Pete as if they knew everything that went on inside the clubhouse. The facts are we don’t so maybe let’s give the team the benefit of the doubt
English

And yet they gave him a record AAV for a 1B after the worst season of his career
Yeah, man.. Mets sure low balled Pete Alonso
ProFootballMax@ProFootballMax
@BMiggy Mets brass spent multiple season devaluating the impact Pete Alonso had on the Mets so they could lowball his next contact, then they never made an offer Alonso / Nimmo / McNeil / Díaz were Mets before Cohen became owner / Sterns became GM. All of them are gone now. Coincidence?
English

@jerkyboykamal @BMiggy True, but none of them had the moment Pete had in Milwaukee. I would argue without that he likely doesn’t even get offered the contract he got. I would also disagree about Duda. Many fans including myself, believed we could have won the WS in 2015 if it wasn’t for his defense
English

@JPpeanutz @BMiggy I’m perfectly fine with Alonso leaving and we all knew he was going to opt out. That was never in question. However, Diaz was asked the same question and gave the best possible answer in the moment. Alonso didn’t! The Mets were very good to him and he clearly felt differently
English

@GKostern @BMiggy I was disgusted he was even asked that question at that moment .... and twice after he broke the Mets career HR record.... and another inappropriate time or two. It was said back in May of '25 by Steve Cohen that Pete would opt out. Wasn't "breaking news." Let's just let it go.
