Case in point as to why this is not Carlos Mendoza's fault. Who, exactly, is he supposed to pitch in these spots? At some point, the players have to perform.

@michaelgbaron That’s completely fair….however, it’s a managers job to get the most out of the players he has. He clearly hasn’t done that! He literally says the same thing ever loss with no energy or accountability.

As far as Carlos Mendoza is concerned, he’s the face of this mess but this isn’t his fault. He may eventually pay the ultimate price for it, but people should be aiming higher. #Mets

@jewmanji @BMiggy Completely agree…..my patience with Stearns is growing less and less. My guess is he’s used to having time in Milwaukee to figure it out on annual basis without any urgency. That shit doesn’t fly in NY. We need urgency! From him, the players and definitely Mendy!

I am warming up big time to move on from Mendy — clearly in over his head. And don’t get me wrong on Stearns - like everyone else I was incredibly excited to get him. Life long Met fan.. smart guy.. all of it.. but he’s been such a disappointment.. took WAY too long to address the pitching last year, a problem mind you, of his own making… and now the whole smug nerd talk… sounds like Alderson… wearing thin.

@OhtaniFan23 @CaseyJ_516 I’ve been a die hard fan my whole life. Until Alonso hit that “magical” home run in Milwaukee, the same “loyal” fans wanted nothing to do with him and were crucifying him all over social media. I’m loyal to Blue and Orange not one player and damn sure not an executive.

@GKostern @CaseyJ_516 "Pete Alonso slurper" we're Mets fans bro and he's the franchise leader in home runs Any actual fan would have more loyalty to a player than an executive I bet most Yankees fans are Aaron Judge slurpers and most Phillies fans are Bryce Harper slurpers, wtf are you on about

@jewmanji @BMiggy I completely agree on the overall roster construction point……For me, with a roster like this it puts even more of an importance on the manager. Mendy has been one step behind on every decision. From batting orders to in game substitutions to bullpen mgmt.

We don’t know dude.. there’s intangibles that aren’t on a spreadsheet but for my money I don’t exile a generational Met who came to work every day for a guy who never played the position and missed 200+ games the previous 4 seasons. Guys are playing all out position.. there’s still a glut of middling infielders that they don’t know what to do with.. this list goes on. Roster construction after an absolute shitstorm last 4 months of 2025 has been awful.. we’re well on our way to 46 pitchers again.. list goes on.. they don’t have a clue

@jewmanji @BMiggy My point exactly! The team that was responsible for the majority of those 112 games would’ve magically done better than this team?? They did address issues from last season. The trades for Peralta and Lou Bob were excellent. However, We should’ve signed a true 1st baseman

@GKostern @BMiggy 7-4 dude? You dumbass — I don’t make a statement after 11 games… I do however when they’re 45-67 over their last 112… when the problems that actually infected this team last year weren’t addressed at all. So fuck off stooge.

@jewmanji @BMiggy You’re so right smart guy. We should’ve done nothing this offseason and just brought the same under performing team back again. Maybe just maybe stop looking back with hindsight to judge everything. My guess is, when the boys were 7-4 you weren’t saying shit.

It might not work but he was decisive in his vision. Look at the Phillies! Running the same team back…..year after year and they’re not much better this year than us and most of their lineup is healthy.

Let me say this to all you calling for Stearns to be fired. As bad as this is currently, I would be way more pissed if we did nothing this offseason and ran back the same team. At least Stearns did something different!

It has to be on Mendoza. Right or wrong, it doesn’t really matter. Just like with Girardi in Philly. Someone has to take the fall to say enough is enough with this type of play!

I do believe we’ve reached the “something dramatic needs to happen” portion of this Mets losing streak This is not on Carlos Mendoza, so not quite sure what that dramatic thing is

@GoodFundies If we’re going to roast Stearns on all the bad moves, we need to give him credit on positive ones. Small sample size but Jett is hitting .173 at AAA and Sproat has been horrid to start this season. As has Pete so maybe let’s not overreact to 16 games of the season

The 2026 Mets are still ok, and will compete for the NL East. But we have MLB's #1 payroll & have traded away a lot of talent for this roster. David Stearns has been an absolute disaster. - Bichette cost a comp pick & intl. pool $ and $42M, plus he gets $5M if he opts out.

@jerkyboykamal @BMiggy Maybe just maybe the clubhouse issues did involve Pete. That’s the thing, fans want to scream that the Mets didn’t show loyalty to Pete as if they knew everything that went on inside the clubhouse. The facts are we don’t so maybe let’s give the team the benefit of the doubt

@GKostern @BMiggy Nobody went on and on about Duda’s defense the way they’ve been doing it about Pete’s. The Milwaukee HR extended his time and should’ve cemented him here, but we are a franchise that’s rarely shows loyalty to homegrown heroes. I’m still disgusted about this.

And yet they gave him a record AAV for a 1B after the worst season of his career Yeah, man.. Mets sure low balled Pete Alonso
ProFootballMax@ProFootballMax

@BMiggy Mets brass spent multiple season devaluating the impact Pete Alonso had on the Mets so they could lowball his next contact, then they never made an offer Alonso / Nimmo / McNeil / Díaz were Mets before Cohen became owner / Sterns became GM. All of them are gone now. Coincidence?

@jerkyboykamal @BMiggy True, but none of them had the moment Pete had in Milwaukee. I would argue without that he likely doesn’t even get offered the contract he got. I would also disagree about Duda. Many fans including myself, believed we could have won the WS in 2015 if it wasn’t for his defense

@GKostern @BMiggy Most fans are blinded by him being the all time home run leader for a franchise that’s had very few offensive juggernauts. And most overlooked his defense being NO DIFFERENT than Duda, Delgado or Mo Vaughn’s defense, which btw was never scrutinized like Pete’s.

@JPpeanutz @BMiggy I’m perfectly fine with Alonso leaving and we all knew he was going to opt out. That was never in question. However, Diaz was asked the same question and gave the best possible answer in the moment. Alonso didn’t! The Mets were very good to him and he clearly felt differently

@GKostern @BMiggy I was disgusted he was even asked that question at that moment .... and twice after he broke the Mets career HR record.... and another inappropriate time or two. It was said back in May of '25 by Steve Cohen that Pete would opt out. Wasn't "breaking news." Let's just let it go.

Here’s reality. Mets were the only team to offer Pete Alonso a contract last year coming off a 780 OPS campaign. Yet they gave him three years with highest AAV for a 1B despite decline. He rejected a six year extension years 3 years ago Why does loyalty only swing one way?
