Similar themes; social marginalisation, start of generational shift, society undergoing transformations, race, heritage, class, identity, absent parents - set in real-life contexts...bring your text, visit the exhibition. 📚

A Taste of Honey by Shelagh Delaney is a text for Exam Level English Lit. Same themes arise in the exhibition of Prof. Lucy Bland's award winning book "Britain's 'Brown Babies', stories of children born to Black GIs and White Women during WW2" View in Castle Cary, openings👇

GLADE’s Heritage Associates are Somerset residents with lived experience of heritage, migration, culture, faith or nationality. Staffing the exhibition in @CastleCaryTown tomorrow and across Easter weekend - why not drop in? It's free, compelling & a Somerset social story

Thanks to DJ Dave & Sound tech from Paul & those who came along for a memorable afternoon. It was amazing! Dave's 78's & informative chat prompted lots of reminiscences, chat, tea-drinking although no lindy hops. We all knew we could've if we'd have wanted to. We'll do it again

An afternoon to remember on Tues 19 March as we look to bring alive this World War 2-era ‘Hidden Story’ in Somerset, through music from that era. For an afternoon to remember, book your free place, tea and cake then listen or Lindy Hop! Runs alongside Prof Lucy Bland's exhibition

To round off #EnglishTourismWeek24, I had the great privilege of visiting A Place Called Home, an exhibition which tells the largely hidden story of children born to black GIs & white women in WW2. It runs until Easter Monday at Castle Cary's Market House & entry is free. 1/2
