Leaders working for political action on #AMR. Chaired by H.E. Mia Amor Mottley, PM of Barbados. Supported by the Quadripartite Joint Secretariat on AMR

It is my honour to brief the Global Leaders Group on AMR on progress towards the #5thHLMMNG & we’re looking forward to welcoming them all to Abuja in June. Alakijas are hosting the 🤩 after conference shindig - if you were at #PortsToArms in 2021 you will know not to miss it!

Political action and #advocacy for #AMR response is essential to achieving the ambitious targets outlined in the #UNGA79 political declaration on AMR. 🗣️The Quadripartite Joint Secretariat on AMR (@FAO, @UNEP, @WHO, @WOAH) is calling on individual leaders across governments, the private sector, philanthropic, and civil society organizations to join the Global Leaders Group on AMR to catalyse political action and accelerate evidence-based action against AMR. 2025 was a landmark year for global public health: -The @WHO Pandemic Agreement was adopted; -amended International Health Regulations entered into force; -United Nations General Assembly adopted an ambitious political declaration on noncommunicable diseases and mental health. Now, Member States are negotiating the WHO Pandemic Agreement annex on pathogen access and benefit sharing system (PABS), and I am confident that negotiations will conclude in time for this year’s World Health Assembly. I am proud that despite the challenges we faced, there are many achievements to celebrate. In my speech to Member States today at #EB158 I shared the wide breadth of our collective achievements in 2025 and their impact to promote, provide and protect people’s health worldwide: who.int/news-room/spee…
