Most of the people who now consider themselves tankies were anti-tankies not too terribly long ago and should be honest about that.

So Carney will be remembered for giving the rousing end-of-hegemony speech that defined the Neo-Gaullist moment, while the actual French president will be remembered for wearing aviators.

Graham Bradley, the Literate Trucker
There's an ourobouros effect that made a proper adaptation extremely difficult. >Disney makes "Pirates of the Caribbean" ride >Young Tim Powers goes on the ride, loves it >Tim Powers grows up and writes "On Stranger Tides" (1988) >Screenwriters read the book and crib heavily from it for the first film (2003) including zombie pirates, Jack (name), Jack (character, who resembled Will), Elizabeth (name and character elements) >Cannibalize several remaining elements for the third film (2007) especially the wedding in the middle of a battle > Tim Powers: 🤨 > Disney and Tim Powers: So hey uh we're on the same team now or whatever, anyway, they paid me money and they're using whatever's left of this thing for the fourth movie (2011) >All that's left is the title, Blackbeard, and the Fountain of Youth That movie came out 15 years ago. But it's part of a franchise that Disney still has plans to milk, and they probably have adaptation rights still tied up, so the chances of a faithful OST film are low for a couple of decades. Which sucks because this book is awesome.

possibly the smartest communist party yet taking advantage of israeli-sparked unrest to cut a slice out of the republic, odds are low this works out but you absolutely love to see it

MANIFESTO OF THE WORKERS' COUNCILS OF ARAK: To the workers of Markazi, to our comrades in Khuzestan, and to all the Iranian people. For decades, our demands for bread have been met with bullets, and our demands for dignity with imprisonment. But today, the silence is over.
