I never thought saying ADHD basically saved my life would come out of my mouth…but Yesterday I put my laundry into the dryer, I was planing to start the dryer and leave the house..by typical ADHD distraction standards and procedures …I placed everything into the dryer and proceeded to another task…never actually turning it on. I left the house, ran some errands, went for a 4 1/2 mile hike, took my dog to the dog park…came back and realized the clothes were still wet from the washer. So I started the dryer and began doing some chores in the house. Within 2 minutes I smelled something like burning and opened the dryer door only to find the heating element in the back of the drum glowing bright red… If I had started the dryer and not been distracted my apartment would have caught fire. Fred (my 10 year old Staffordshire bull terrier) inside… Needless to say this will be my new paranoid habit for the rest of my life. Thank god for ADHD.
