I’ve been married for 46 years this May, and I agree that equality in a relationship is essential. While I wouldn’t consider immediate divorce, my husband and I have always treated each other as equals. He is fully capable of making his own meals and managing his life. I shouldn’t be expected to take on a maternal role—he’s not an infant. He doesn’t see women as there to serve him, and that mutual respect is what makes our partnership strong.
