There's a lot of value in having a powerful enough model at your disposal locally on your device, even more so if you value privacy. I'll be playing with some small to mid-sized local models to test their capabilities, and see what I can use on the daily going forward.

If you have the hardware to support it, run a local LLM by all means. Incredible that a small Mac Mini M4 16GB RAM is capable of running small to mid-sized models locally, and it's fascinating to watch it work and think of an answer live, all without an internet connection.
