I asked @peggy_wang to be the face of it, dunking on the techbros: sign up so you don't end up like me, single until series B. I was guiding people to a treasure I couldn't possess. And it worked. Best event I've ever hosted. Curated people from every walk of life, not just YC founders, actually hit it off. The girls' group chat is still popping lol. Moral: you can have your cake and eat it too. It's just harder. You can stay "single until series B" and still help everyone else find their person. All the places where real estate is apparently cheaper are also places where healthcare is state funded and quality education is free or heavily subsidized.
Yet all those places have low TFR - Poland, Russia, Western Europe, Japan, SG.
Falling fertility is a cultural phenomenon and people associate it with economics.
Poor regions continue to have higher TFR. Like regions where the PCI is less than $1000.
Yes economics matters but it is part of the equation.

Not coz of a lifestyle choice, but sheer affordability. Such is the school fees that having two kids is like having two home loans. The EMI for which will keep increasing. The love of the sibling is being replaced by a dog or the Internet. We are going to be old as a nation, before we get rich. Tough.
