BREAKING: REPLAY REVIEW TO BE INSTITUTED AT HOME TEAM’S DISCRETION IN @NCAADIII FOOTBALL PLAYOFFS — @D3FBHuddle The NCAA has made it official at ncaaorg.s3.amazonaws.com/championships/… that in the first four rounds of the #d3fb Playoffs, if the home team chooses to institute replay review (at the sidelines), it cannot be refused by the away team. This means that, for the first time ever, replay review will be permitted in rounds prior to the National Semifinals. Schools in the Centennial, Landmark, MAC, OAC, NWC, NJAC, and others have already built replay architecture, meaning it is virtually guaranteed that at least some games will have replay review utilized in the opening rounds of the 2025 Playoffs. This decision goes along with the requirement by the NCAA for home sites to introduce multiple video angles for ESPN+ broadcasts. Whether or not this capability will affect hosting rights/ability this year or in the future is not clear. However, what is clear is that the NCAA is serious about building a video architecture for D3 Playoffs moving forward.
