@SlaveOfSuzumiya it'll probably still suffer from the dodgy framepacing that's been plaguing recent ST titles @ 30fps but yeah it's the best the switch version can look and shouldn't have any dips

Sonic Frontiers on Switch 2 runs well enough now

@SlaveOfSuzumiya I tested base Frontiers, resolution was dynamic and locked to 720p on both docked and handheld. The boost mode allow for SSR to be active on handhled, which is nice. Update 3 already had stable resolution and framerate on Switch 2. Too bad there's no 60fps/resolution toggle

although they didn't do this for the August beta we have, it's probably safe to assume the artists intended for the floating lanterns here to also bob about.. so, now they do! reusing the animation from the town here so it's as close to how ST would've presented it as I can get

and of course, can't forget about the ones that were cut from the town as well! what's funny about these is that the one just to the side of the town entrance still has collision in retail, despite the visual model being removed

@Cirrusfire_TV for the ones floating on the water, mostly the same scenario, except I imagine they were going to be subbed out for animated counterparts - like the ones that got removed from the town

@Cirrusfire_TV I theorise they were planning to substitute the standing lanterns out for set objects, like you see in the town, instead of having them fixed in the level geometry, and they either ran out of time or forgot to follow through after deleting them

@GamingLeroyX sure, though generally speaking you can tell that such lights are placed either for visibility while playing or to make the scene look more dynamic unlike this instance.. it's not particularly helpful, nor does it make the scene look cooler, it's just leftover lights lol

@GPF_SCT Regardless, it doesn't change the fact that in many other parts of the game, and even in more recent games, they place a lot of random lights in places where there is no light source. Sonic Forces does this way too much.

was "workshopping" a werehog planet wisp stage back in 2024, didn't end up going beyond this environment test, I still think it looks pretty neat albeit pretty dark apotos handles/swingpoles weren't intended, was just the stage slot I used lol

Shoutout to the guy at the London Sonic Symphony who was the first to lay eyes on the project outside of the development/testing team, when I was playing it on my steam deck, in a Premier Inn lobby Thankfully, he assumed it was xenia.. I just never corrected him 👀

It's crazy that a year has already passed since it we released it. That day I pulled an all-nighter to provide support to people after release. Since then I had the chance to do my dream trip to Japan and I brought it with me to the SEGA building. Nobody tell John Sega though🤫

That being said, here's to another decade! Lost World is far from the most loved sonic title, but the flexibility with it's movement made me fall in love with it and I hope that if, or when, my mods for it are finished, they'll draw some more eyes to the game (7/7)
