After several very stressful days of fighting fires to keep the village forests safe, the heroic efforts of the village forest management boards were helped by the arrival of long-awaited rain! The fires are out for now, and the LPHD is already planting new trees!

Our Hutan Desa (Village Forest) program gets villages legal rights to forest areas that they manage and provides training for SMART patrols and more. Several of the Village Forests are under immediate threat by fire right now! Help the heroes on the ground savewildorangutans.org/donate/

Udin worked as the camp maintenance assistant for almost 5 years, until he got promoted to his new role earlier this year. After 3 months of intensive training, Udin is now skilled in collecting all types of data that are necessary for the research project.

Last month we celebrated #WorldEnvironmentDay & #WorldRainforestDay with a special tree planting event! More than 175 participants, including representatives from 60 different local institutions, came together to plant 500 seedlings in a local mangrove.🌿 savegporangutans.org/planting-trees
