At the German Plant Breeding Conference, Hannah Robinson presenting our collaborative research with @InterGrain1 exploring opportunities to model pathotype and GxE interactions for enhanced genomic predictions for rust resistance in elite wheat breeding populations #gpz2024

The #BOLDcwr project broadens the genetic base of seven key food and forage crops. At #GPZ2024 in Geisenheim, researchers presented their achievements of BOLD's pre-breeding efforts with alfalfa, potato, finger millet and barley.

Genetics started in Karlsruhe according to Holger Puchta‘s talk at the @GPZeV meeting @GPZconference24. Joseph Köhlreuter‘s experiments confirmed sexual reproduction of plants. He was also the first who described heterosis.

Yesterday marks the first half of the HPZ conference @hsgeisenheim. We had a lot of good talks, with the highlights being the three keynotes of Dorcus Gemenet, Hans Daetwyler and Holger Puchta.

We hope that everyone had a great gala dinner yesterday, we had a lot of fun with all of you! Congratulations to the three Poster awardees Rica-Hanna from @pbgiessen, Henri from @GoPlantBreeding and @a_bakinghouse from ICARDA. Some well deserved awards for excellent science

Bei der Mitgliederversammlung sind Klaus Pillen als neuer Präsident gewählt worden, Maria von Korff wird Vizepräsidentin, Frank Ordon bleibt im Amt und Robbert Hoffie ist neuer Kassenprüfer der GPZ. Die Geschäfte starten zum 01.10.24. Perfekt! 🥳🥳

Unsere neue AG hat sich formiert. Die junge GPZ hat nun eine Doppelspitze. Die erste Wahl fiel auf Kumsal Colpan (HHU) und ihre Vertreterin ist Ann-Kathrin Pfrieme (JKI). Herzlichen Glückwunsch!

Today @KaiV_F is opening the next generation breeders workshop. We are looking forward to two productive days of learning and talking plant breeding and of course a nice conference afterwards!
