The Cassette Analogy (Isaiah 51:5) This reminds me of how close God always is to us, yet how easily our character can drive Him away. God Himself is constant. Consider a cassette tape. Inside it lies a long magnetic ribbon — the audio tape that carries the music or recording. Before playing, you often wind or rewind it. When you wind forward, the ribbon is drawn out and away from the center. When you rewind, it is pulled back inside. The control you turn — left or right — determines the direction the tape moves. It is the same with us and God. Our character is the control. The God-factor (His presence and response) is like the ribbon — constant in its nature, yet moved closer or farther depending on which way our character directs it. Whichever direction our character points, the distance changes accordingly. If we leave the control untouched, the distance remains as it is. When God says, “My arm shall judge the people,” I see it through this picture: the length between us and Him reveals the true judgment of our character. If our character honors Him, we will notice it by how quickly He answers us. When God’s arm is close, His response comes faster. When it is far, the answer is delayed or seems absent. The judgment is therefore constant — it is simply the effect of how near or distant we have positioned ourselves. When you call and there is no immediate answer, that silence itself is already the judgment: the arm has been moved to a far distance by the engineering force of your character at that moment. In other words, the length of the “arm” shows the reality. If God’s outstretched arm cannot reach you in that season, it is because you have engineered that distance through your character. By observing the outcome, you can always judge the true state of your own heart. Refine your character, and the distance closes. Honor Him, and His nearness becomes evident. Isaiah 51:5 My righteousness is near; my salvation is gone forth, and mine arms shall judge the people; the isles shall wait upon me, and on mine arm shall they trust. #Godspet
