Aguilar Suarez & Beroza present a dataset of 1.6 million waveforms, to be used for machine-learning models in regional seismic event monitoring. Read more and get the dataset: seismica.library.mcgill.ca/article/view/1…

Saludos

@SeismoAlice The Bucaramanga Nest intermediate-depth earthquakes also show reverse polarity events.

Check out the first paper about moonquakes! doi.org/10.1029/2022JE… Why do some moonquakes slip backwards? Do they slip forwards and backwards? Or can deep moonquakes slip in any direction? we find they can slip in a variety of directions and must be driven by tidal stresses!

@GPrietocruz @MinSeongSeo An interesting toolkit & paper! I've quite literally observed the poor correlation over a dense array for higher frequencies and have thought of trying coherence instead.

@E_L_Worthington @KayMcmonigal @Ales42 Sorry, first time I share something here. My original F90 code is on github, and I just finished translating it to Python. I can upload it to GitHub, in the mean time I can share it with you, just send me your email.

We have been having a discussion in this cruise about learning to use python. Most of us here use MATLAB, some of us are thinking of making the transition to python. What are your thoughts? For geosciences data analysis what do you use? ⁉️

@Ales42 I switched for my post doc (although I still do power spectra in Matlab because I can’t find a good python package). I probably didn’t have to switch to python but it was good learning experience + students in the group use it. Whatever works for you!
