Influencers and arm chair critics who don't watch a minute of local football will suddenly become experts on our systemic flaws. We are world champions at diagnosing the problem. Aiban quickly adapting to Westwood’s tactical system has been one of the most underrated positives for KBFC this season. From operating as a left CB in a 4-4-2 to stepping into midfield as a left DMF in a 3-2-2-3 formation during build up, he has understood the role with impressive maturity and intelligence. His ability to progress play, maintain structure and create overloads in midfield gives KBFC much more control in possession while still keeping defensive stability intact. That kind of tactical versatility is exactly what modern systems demand, and Aiban has embraced it seamlessly.💛 But in a normal ISL season where every team has a full-strength squad, a player like Aiban could struggle with the overall intensity level. @GRxKBFC I think danish is tailor made for this role. Given that ashley improves his on the ball ability. And i think ashley can do it if he is the coach. We also need one more player though.

I don't think so In Westwood's system, there’s no real need for a traditional fullback/wingback profile. Any CB who is comfortable on the ball, progressive in possession, and positionally aware can easily slot in as a RB/LB because the role is more about build-up structure than overlapping runs. For RB/RCB, we already have Hormi and Bikash but for LB/LCB we only have saheef as an option so getting a LB/LCB profile should be priority.

Some people kept asking why Naocha wasn’t getting chances ahead of Saheef despite Saheef looking unreliable at times this season. But there’s a tactical reason behind Ashley trusting him. Saheef doesn’t just play as a LB - during build up, he shifts into a left CB when KBFC moves from a back 4 to a back 3. That role needs CB instincts: positioning, compactness, progression and defensive balance. Naocha is more of a wing-back profile than a natural full-back/centre-back. Yes, Saheef makes mistakes, but tactically he fits the system far better, That’s probably why the coach keeps backing him. And moving forward, the ideal solution would be signing a naturally defensive left-back who is comfortable as a full-back and tucking inside as a left centre-back during build up. #KBFC #keralablasters
