Greensboro Police Continue Investigation of Man Charged with Indecent Liberties With a Child
GREENSBORO, NC (May 21, 2026) – Greensboro Police are continuing to investigate whether a man recently charged with indecent liberties with a child may have victimized other children.
Victor Romero Hernandez, 51, was arrested May 7 on outstanding warrants in which he was charged with six counts of indecent liberties with a child. The offenses were reported to have occurred in 2014 and involved multiple victims.
Victor Romero Hernandez remains under investigation for additional cases involving children in Greensboro and in other jurisdictions.
He remains in the Guilford County Jail. A secured bond was set on the current charges at $100,000.

Greensboro Police Arrest Man on Charges in Sexual Assault Case
GREENSBORO, NC (May 20, 2026) – Greensboro Police have arrested a 34-year-old man on charges in connection with a recent sexual assault case.
Rae-Shawn Demetrius Martin is charged with attempted second-degree forcible rape, second-degree kidnapping, interfering with emergency communications, and assault on a female. He remains in the Guilford County Jail without bond.
On April 4, 2026, at approximately 10:30 p.m., Greensboro Police responded to the 1500 block of New Garden Road in reference to a sexual assault. During the investigation, detectives with the Family Victims Unit were able to identify Martin as the suspect and obtained warrants for his arrest. Martin was arrested for these charges on May 18.
Detectives also established probable cause to charge Martin with concealment of death from a case in 2022. Additional details are not being released by the department at this time pending notification of next-of-kin.

Officer Dee just found this sweet baby wandering the streets near Four Seasons Boulevard and Cheltenham Boulevard. She's got a collar and is EXTREMELY sweet!

Greensboro Police Arrest Man in Assault Case
GREENSBORO, NC (May 19, 2026) – Greensboro Police have arrested and charged a man wanted in connection with an assault last week that involved him pouring gasoline on a woman and setting her on fire.
Andrew Alan Lewis Mathews, 43, of Greensboro, was arrested Monday night and charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, malicious use of incendiary material to injure, and two counts of burning personal property.
On May 13, at approximately 4:11 a.m., Greensboro Police, Greensboro Fire, and Guilford County EMS responded to the 3700 block of West Gate City Boulevard to a vehicle fire and reports of a woman suffering from burn injuries. The woman was taken to a local hospital for treatment. She remains in critical condition.
This is an ongoing investigation. Details, such as a possible motive, are not available for release at this time.
Mathews remains in the Guilford County Jail without bond, and faces additional unrelated charges.
