September 2, 1975: #OTD in Reds history, Tony Pérez broke Frank Robinson’s modern franchise record for career RBIs with a single that drove in his 1,010th run. Pérez finished his career ranked second on the club’s all-time list with 1,192 RBIs, trailing only @JohnnyBench_5 who retired with 1,376. #RedMuseumArchives: Baseball Perez hit to drive in his record-breaking run.

On 8/29/1978, Addison Lovejoy, the organist of the Big Red Machine era at Riverfront played for the entire 2 hr and 46 min rain delay. He played his songbook alphabetically and got to L. After the game, he said, "Nuxhall should have named me Star of the Game." #Reds

I missed a milestone over the weekend. Sunday was the 40th(!) anniversary of the first baseball game I ever attended. A few years ago, my pal Mike from @GScorebook hooked me up with his grandma's handwritten account of what happened that day...and I love it.

@JasonWalkerNBA @Super70sSports Tom Seaver vs Vida Blue in game 1 of the double-header in 1978. Bench with a home run in the 9th but wasn’t quite enough. Grandma notes at the bottom that Geronimo bruised his hip with a foul ball in the 6th.

@Super70sSports Saw two double-headers there, as a boy, in June ‘77-‘78, both against the Giants, both in the Red seats, where I learned the art of not plummeting to my death if I missed a step.

@myjunkwax Grandma recorded Ryan’s 3000th K on 7/4/80 striking out Cesar Geronimo in Top of 2nd & his 200th career win on 7/27/82. She loved to acknowledge all milestones. These were some of her simple joys and benefits from listening & keeping score every game. @RRExpress @robertreidryan
