GTA IV is 18 years old today🎉 Still haven't played another game where ragdoll physics make crashing a car off a bridge feel like its own form of entertainment, thanks to the Euphoria engine. Watching Niko fly through a windshield or grab onto a railing as he falls hits different even now. Nothing has come close since.

That's a fair point and I agree. CodeWalker has been doing a lot of the heavy lifting for sure. The difference is RPFKit aims to be all-in-one rather than the current setup of CodeWalker plus OpenRPF plus separate installers (like the OIV installer). If it delivers on that, it'll definitely have an edge.

It has to be the story. If the writing pulls you in and gets you genuinely attached to Jason and Lucia, everything else falls into place. You can have the best world building in gaming, but if you don't care about the characters living in it, it's just a beautiful map. Look at RDR2. Arthur Morgan made every camp activity and every random side mission feel meaningful. Without that writing it's just a pretty map. Another great example is Niko Bellic. Niko is the reason GTA 4 still gets brought up today. The driving wasn't perfect, the map wasn't huge, but the writing made every drive across Liberty City worth it. Curious to hear what would ruin the story for you guys?

A new modding tool replacing OpenIV is very interesting timing. With Rockstar shifting toward an official creator platform for GTA 6 and absorbing FiveM into the Cfx Marketplace, the era of community-built modding tools like OpenIV might not survive into the next generation - or at least the anarchic version of it might not. RPFKit could be one of the last of its kind.

GTA 5 is now being used as a drone training simulator by a Ukrainian nonprofit, complete with real controller support and telemetry. It's been 13 years and people are still finding new uses for this game. If GTA 5's open world is being used this way 13 years in, GTA 6's map is going to have applications nobody at Rockstar Games planned for.

GTA 5 + GTA Online has generated over $8 billion lifetime. That makes it the single most profitable entertainment product ever made, in any medium. GTA 6's $3 billion development budget makes more sense in that context. Bring it on!

Interesting timing on Zelnick floating the "fair price" line today. Earnings call is May 21, three weeks away. He's softening the ground before the actual number drops. Bet that's where and when we get the price confirmation.

Strauss Zelnick at iicon today, asked about GTA 6 pricing: "Consumers need to feel like the thing itself is amazing and the price they were charged was fair." Read that as Take-Two stepping back from the $100 price point that's been floated. Closer to $80 than $100 looks like the live read now.

Speculated GTA 6 pricing isn't actually unusual. $70 standard, $80-$100 deluxe, $200+ collector's all match what Spider-Man 2, FFXVI, and Hogwarts Legacy already shipped at. Zelnick's "fair price" framing reads as confirming that range.

The 3.5x number is a bit overstated based on the latest mapping projects (closer to 2.5x), but the part that's going to genuinely surprise people is the density. Way more enterable interiors and dynamic NPC routines & ecosystems. Vice Beach alone is supposed to have hundreds of unique NPCs interacting organically.

Polymarket has GTA 6 exceeding $100 at just 11% chance right now. After Zelnick's comments at iicon yesterday, that number is unlikely to climb. He said Take-Two's job is to "charge way way way less of the value delivery" and emphasized that game prices have stayed stable in the $60-$70 range despite inflation. That's now twice in two months he's pointed to the $70-$80 range publicly. The $100 fear is officially dead. The base price is almost certainly landing under $80.

Zelnick yesterday confirmed two things: a lot of people will be calling in sick on November 19th, and the marketing campaign is still starting this summer. Take that as a soft confirmation that no "Hi everyone" post is coming. This means there's no third delay. The November 19 date is locked!

Strauss Zelnick said he's "terrified" when asked how Take-Two plans to measure GTA 6's success. That's a word he's never used publicly before. And given Take-Two's $55B market cap is essentially a bet on this one game, it's probably the most honest thing he's said about it yet.
