So, why is the #GTRSBPledge important for schools? Pledging to include the culture and traditions of GTRSB in the curriculum will help children and young people feel that they are recognised and respected and can reach their potential within an education setting /1

@soapachu I am afraid that I don't have an answer to your question but have you seen this horrific local story? #article" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">walthamforestecho.co.uk/staff-at-leyto…

@BucksNewUni has become the latest university formally to adopt the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) definition of Antigypsyism and anti-Roma discrimination.

#ThePledge works because it embeds a whole school/institution approach #embed #Training #curriculum #Data #visibility and is delivered by #Ethnic community with lived experience... agree 💯 2 hours online training is just tick box won't change or improve anything...
Selina Wallis@UnlockingBirth

Pauline Anderson says we need a whole school and whole community approach to #inclusion and #equality Not a two hour session on gypsy roma and traveller education. Not pulling kids out of classes and teaching them separately #GRT @PrideofRomani

Delivery of new books. One that I can talk about and one I can't until after launch on Monday. Huge thanks to the whole team who worked on School For Nomads my first look through and I love it. Michelle, Gemma the proofreader and Debbie, Lynne and Kari from Moving for Change.

Another way to stop us Travelling. Please write in to this consultation. We need T for travelling, E for other education and there should be a code for distance or hybrid learning.. not all education is taught behind a desk
Anita Woodward-Benn@TAtoLeader

The DfE are seeking views on new regulations for school registers. The consultation is extensive, from coding remote learning to fixed penalty notices + roll deletion. Pls share with your #attendance team members! gov.uk/government/con… #AttendanceMatters #ukedchat #education

We've already seen a number of Universities from across the UK signing the pledge and these are already making a difference. Think of the difference pledge signing schools could make at the early stages of learning for GTRSB children. #SignThePledge

Much needed given the following stats [Scotland but reflective of the situation elsewhere in the UK] 23.9% of leavers recorded as ‘White - Gypsy/Traveller’ left with no qualifications at SCQF level 3 or higher, compared to 2.1% for all publicly funded secondary school leavers. /2

Morning - I'm Dr Lynne Tammi-Connelly and I'll be doing a takeover here today. Thanks to @GTRSB_Pledge for this opportunity. So, I'll start with a bit about me and my journey through education..... 1/

Even so flexible learning that meets the need of the nomadic practices of GTRSB communities is patchy, in some cases non-existent 2/

@DrLConnelly I often wonder if there had been opportunities for flexible, 'dip in and out' formal learning if I would have started my return to education sooner. Times have changed now though and the advent of the internet has made that much more possible/1
