The school won 2nd prize 🏆 for their entry in this years’ town carnival. We chose the theme ‘World Book Day’ to celebrate its 25th anniversary and even better meant that children got to think about their favourite books and wear their costumes again. #worldbookday

2/2 After practising our sketching skills, we decided which rainforest animal we wanted to create close-up art work for. We thought about what made that animal distinctive. Can you identify the animal in each picture?

Y5 looked at the art work of Georgia O’Keefe. We discussed the detail in her work and her use of colour and tone. 1/2

Children from Y6 Eco Council have been out in the community helping Nailsea Town Council support the rewilding project carried out by NSC last year. They spent the morning removing plastic tree guards and weeding around the newly planted trees that have survived on Hawthorn Way.

Years 1&2 really enjoyed their talk and practical cricket sessions with Dom and Charlotte from Somerset Cricket today. They learnt batting, fielding and catching skills and worked well in their teams. @SomCricketFDN

Children are delighted to have four new visitors to our school. The bottle lambs will be staying for a few weeks and are making themselves at home.

The Y6 Eco Council applied to the Tree Council for 5 trees and a further 2 trees have been given to us by North Somerset. Each Year Group and children from Eco Council have helped to plant 7 broadleaf trees. The 7 trees have also been added to the Queen's Jubilee Green Canopy.

Y2 have been learning about Tudor clothes of the rich and been learning to draw self portraits. We then looked at portraits in Tudor times and why they were important. Using these skills and information the children have designed their own Tudor portraits. Hope you like them.

We have been thinking about our school vision and intent. This display shows words we feel are key to this; and the speech bubbles show how children can think of ways that they demonstrate and practise being these words.

Pupils in Y1-Y6 had a visit by Richard Lancaster from Greenpeace for an assembly on 'The Impact of Plastic Waste'. Pupils found it very informative and helpful as part of understanding environmental changes. The Y6 Eco-Council will continue to suggest ways to all pupils 1/2

Following a fundraising activity request by a number of pupils in light of recent world events, the playground was filled with red, blue and yellow as pupils wore non-uniform to raise funds for Comic Relief and Ukraine.

Y1 have planned and made chairs for the 3 bears ! They thought about how to join the legs, comfort and colour of materials.

Golden Valley pupils celebrated World Book Day with dressing up as a book character and entering the book cover design competition. The Last Wolf by Mini Grey was the inspiration…a lovely story about Red Riding Hood going green! Here are some of the fabulous winning designs 1/2

Y6 will be doing ‘bikeability’ this term. Not only will it give them cycling skills for life, it will help to make sure everyone can join in the cycling activities at camp in June. The first group had their sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday and they all did really well.
