This initiative responds to growing climate variability in the country by embedding climate risk management into investment decisions, project design, and institutional reforms across the water sector.


Through the AU-AIP Multi-country Readiness, the EWIP looks into ensuring water security which requires more than just infrastructure but inclusive planning that puts people at the centre.


Various stakeholders are convening to validate the Eswatini Water Investment Plan (EWIP), a strategic framework aimed at strengthening water security, climate resilience, and sustainable development in the country.

The GEF Implementing Agency of the Ruvuma River Basin Project, IUCN says it views the initiative as a transformative opportunity that restores landscapes, improves natural resources management and governance, strengthens livelihoods, & catalyses long-term investment




The workshop marks the official commencement of the project titled “Strengthening integrated transboundary source-to-sea management of the Ruvuma River Basin and its coastal zones to ensure ecosystem health and livelihood security.”
