I realized I never shared this from a few months ago - but I was honored to be asked if my painting 'Nephthys' (the Egyptian goddess of death) could be used as the cover for the cover of the anthology 'Afterlives' - a collection of speculative fiction short stories themed around death and dying. And since this was an older painting of mine, there were a few things I had been wanting to update over the years - and this gave the perfect opportunity to touch up the painting after all these years. I am esp happy with how the wings now spread out behind the two hawks' faces, rather than just fade abruptly into space. So I thought it would be fun to share the updated version of her, and the final cover design that was revealed in December. #shortstories #goddess #death

As the new year begins, I’m opening a small number of one-on-one painting mentorships. In my own journey as an artist, mentorships and thoughtful, insightful feedback have been some of the most helpful resources in my growth as an artist. I know how helpful it can be to have someone really take time with your work, and help you see both what’s working and what’s holding you back - and how to see around those curves in the road ahead. I wanted to make a space in my life to offer that kind of support to other artists as well - which is why I am so excited to be starting these mentorships. I’ll only be working with a handful of artists at a time so I can give each person focused attention and thoughtful, in-depth feedback. Mentorships are month-to-month, so you can enroll for as long—or as briefly—as feels right for your goals.
