Wintery conditions on roads are expected as early as late Saturday morning. Do NOT travel unless you have to. Winter driving can be hazardous. Slow down to keep yourself and everyone on the road safe. Remember, “Ice and snow, take it slow”.

Cold Weather Safety Reminder •Never use an oven or stovetop to heat your home. •Make sure your space heater has an automatic shut-off. •Keep anything that can burn at least 3 feet from heating equipment.

There is currently a winter weather advisory from noon Saturday to 7 AM Sunday for Chatham County. This means snow is expected. Total snow accumulations up to one inch. Plan on slippery road conditions. Do NOT travel unless necessary.

Rainfall from Saturday and Sunday have the potential to impact bridges and elevated roadways from black ice. Freezing temperatures will only last a few hours but be careful driving during the early hours of Monday morning. Be extra vigilant if driving during this time.

The first beam to be placed in the Early Childhood Learning Center, a multijurisdictional SPLOST 7 project between the County, the City of Savannah and East Savannah United was signed by local leadership Monday. The facility will open next fall, and serve up to 144 children.

Potential Tropical Cyclone 9 is expected to become a tropical storm this weekend, bringing a threat of wind, rainfall, and storm surge to Coastal Georgia next week. The system is expected to be at or near hurricane intensity when it approaches the U.S. coast next week.
