I love Jose Andres. Washington DC has loved him for decades for his restaurants and hospitality, and today we learned he's now fed over 600 million people through World Central Kitchen. I'm so happy he's with us in Atlanta and at GT. It's raining out but its sunny in here 🐝 🥘.

Thank you to all women who found a path to science at @GeorgiaTech and, along the way, made Georgia Tech better for others. This past year we celebrated them with a beautiful permanent installation on campus that's inspiring new generations to follow their example. Come see it!

'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through Tech Tower, Not a Yellow Jacket was stirring, avoiding Atlanta rush hour, The rat caps were placed by the Whistle with care, In hopes that George P. Burdell soon would be there, Buzz was all nestled snug in his bed, While visions of Pop-Tarts danced in his head, And MaTech in her 'kerchief, and I in my rat cap, Had just settled our brains for a long winter's nap, When out on Tech Green there arose such a clatter, I sprang from my hammock to see what was the matter. Away to the window I flew like a drone, Tore open the shutters and no time to postpone. The moon on the campanile glistening in snow, Gave a lustre of class change to objects below, When what to my wondering eyes did appear, But a golden Ramblin’ Wreck without power to steer, With a jolly good driver so lively and well, I knew in a moment he must be Burdell! More rapid than golden tornados his coursers they came, And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name: "Now, Computing! now, Math! now Science and Mechanical! On, Engineering! on, Design! on, Aerospace, Give ‘em hell! To the top of The Flats! To the top of the Brittain Hall! Now buzz away! Buzz away! Buzz away all!" As leaves that before the wild Atlanta thunderstorm fly, When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky; So up to Tech Tower top the coursers they flew, With the Wreck full of experiments, and Old Burdell too, And then, in a twinkling, I heard above, The stretching and snapping of a laboratory glove. As I drew in my head, and was turning around, Down the chimney George P. Burdell came with a bound. He was dressed all in gold, from his head to his feet, And his clothes were all tarnished with rubber pellets from his cleat, A bundle of test tubes he had flung on his back, And he looked like a rambler just opening his pack. His eyes—how they twinkled! His voice, what a singer! His cheeks were like honey, his nose like a stinger! His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow, And the stubble on his chin was maximized for air flow; The bite of a Junior’s burger he held tight in his teeth, Hiding his milkshake he kept just beneath, He had an indiscriminate face, that old bee, That shot a crooked smile, when he showed me his degree. He was sneaky and smart, a right jolly good fellow, And I laughed when I saw him, instead of saying “hello,” A wink of his eye and a twist of his head Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread, He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work, And filled all the rat caps; then turned with a jerk, And laying his finger aside of his nose, And giving a nod, to the top of Tech Tower he rose; He sprang to the Wreck, and we all heard the Whistle, And away they all flew like an aerospace missile. But then he exclaimed, or so I thought I heard, “Happy Christmas to all, and to all — What’s the Good Word!?!?!”
