Another cause of high ferritin is malignancy, but all of his other labs look beautiful right now. Please keep my sweet boy in your prayers, that his labs continue to come back good and his ferritin levels continue to trend down on their own. ❤️ 4/4

@bramucce Thank you so so much for your prayers! This is the first time it has come back high. That’s the reason I’m a little concerned, it can be typical in the thick of treatment due to the amount of blood transfusions, but he hasn’t had one in over a year now.

@GabbyWireman Praying for Grey! Has his ferritin level been consistently high, or is this the first time?

His pediatrician wants to repeat these labs in 2 weeks to make sure that’s still the case. High ferritin can be a sign of liver damage and we know that he developed VOD after his last round of chemo, so that is a possibility. 3/4

I felt like that was kind of a long time to wait, so I took him to his pediatrician yesterday where she felt inclined to repeat the bloodwork since the level was so high. It came back this time at 996 so it is coming down. 2/4

Greys doc from Cinci called me a few days ago to discuss the rest of his labs, his ferritin came back very high at 1,324. Normal range is 10-150. His doctor said they want to do an MRI at his next appointment to make sure that his liver & heart aren’t holding onto extra iron. 1/4

My sweet boy, Greyson, is fighting his second battle with leukemia at 7 years old. He was diagnosed with AML, beat the disease, and suffered a relapse all in less than a year.
