The eRyan is Naim, so much so that he refutes it when Naim says he is afraid of something. The entity is their anger materializing in the form of the person they love. The entity is a metaphor.

maybe it's because they're young and we hardly know them as characters, but i can't really see ryan and naim as parents

But the dog would know if it was real Ryanaim or just the wind, which would be quite useful for alerting them. Perhaps the entity wouldn't even appear, because with a dog they wouldn't feel loneliness and depression
