I’m delighted to share the publication of our new book, Japan, Latin America and the Caribbean: Working Together in a New Indo-Pacific(Edward Elgar), co-authored with Kanako Yamaoka. This book examines how Japan has re-engaged with Latin America and the Caribbean in a changing global order—through a ‘soft-balancing’ strategy grounded in international law, encompassing diplomacy, economic cooperation, and development assistance. It also explores how these evolving relationships are shaped by broader geopolitical dynamics in the Indo-Pacific, including a dedicated chapter comparing the approaches adopted by Japan and Australia in engaging with the region. Los dos candidatos con mayor número de votos como primera opción, pasan a una “2da vuelta” y se les suman los votos que obtuvieron como segunda y tercera opción. Los resultados se saben el mismo día. Es una propuesta interesante.
