We congratulate HRC members for being able to, once more, adopt the resolution on Human rights in the context of HIV and AIDS by consensus.

An historic first brought by the HIV resolution is the first ever mention to “Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights” #SRHR in a globally negotiated document, withou any qualifiers, a landmark on IHRL. The amendment tabled by Russia was defeated by a wide margin.

Including through leveraging the potential of U=U. The res also reaffirms States’ right to use the #TRIPS flexibities to ensure access to medicines and treatments.

Further, it expresses concern and urges States to take action against stigma, violence and multiple and intersecting forms of discrimination against key populations and persons living with HIV. Calls on them to abolish and review punitive, restrictive and discriminatory laws.

#HRC55 | Draft resolution A/HRC/55/L.9 on combating discrimination, violence and harmful practices against intersex persons was ADOPTED.

Since 2020 a growing number of States have asked the UN HRC to act on the matter. Last year, a Statement was supported by 56 UN Member States was delivered, followed by a call of more than 100 NGOs to adopt a resolution on this issue. ilga.org/news/intersex-…

The text calls for an UN report, followed by a panel discussion, to take place September 2025. It also encourages States to combat discrimination, violence and harmful practices based on variations of sex characteristics and adresses its root causes. undocs.org/a/hrc/55/l.9

The resolution, presented by Finland, South Africa, Chile and Australia, recognizes the multiple and intersecting forms of discrimination based on variations of sex characteristics and express grave concerns about violence and harmful practices against intersex persons.

I wish I could erase “humanitarian pause” forever. The absurdity of it is just utterly shocking and horrifying. The only way forward is to immediately CEASEFIRE and END THE OCCUPATION. Absolutely nothing will make an occupying power feel safe while they fill the sky with bombs.

I’m absolutely horrified by the updates from Palestine health workers that their hospital is likely going to be targeted and lives endangered and people murdered. This facility is treating approx 400 patients and housing 1200 displaced persons. An immediate ceasefire is needed.
