El Gobierno de la República de Colombia observa con profunda preocupación los reportes sobre explosiones y actividad aérea inusual registrados en las últimas horas en la República Bolivariana de Venezuela, así como la consecuente escalada de tensión en la región. Colombia reafirma su compromiso irrestricto con los principios consagrados en la Carta de las Naciones Unidas, en particular el respeto a la soberanía y la integridad territorial de los Estados, la prohibición del uso o la amenaza del uso de la fuerza, y la solución pacífica de las controversias internacionales. En este sentido, el Gobierno colombiano rechaza cualquier acción militar unilateral que pueda agravar la situación o poner en riesgo a la población civil. El país adopta una posición orientada a la preservación de la paz regional, y hace un llamado urgente a la desescalada, exhortando a todas las partes involucradas a abstenerse de acciones que profundicen la confrontación y a privilegiar el diálogo y los canales diplomáticos.
