Initial tests revealed critical core temperatures reaching 96°C under workload. This severe overheating was caused by accumulated dust and completely dried factory thermal paste on the GPU die. To fix the thermal issue a complete teardown and heatsink cleaning were performed. After removing the hardened residue and applying new high-quality compound the card was retested in FurMark. The temperature dropped to 66°C showing a significant 30°C reduction while the fan efficiency improved. Paired with a Core 2 Duo processor clocked at 3.8GHz the card delivered great performance in classic games. In older titles like GTA San Andreas and Call of Duty 4 the frame rates stayed well above 70 FPS. The official release of the updated artificial intelligence based algorithm for the mass segment is scheduled for early July this year. Previously this graphics technology was an exclusive for the newest RDNA 4 models, but now developers have prepared a software layer to integrate the upscaler into the Radeon RX 7000 line. The difficulty of porting lay in the differences in chip microarchitecture, as new models use the FP8 computation format. To implement upscaling on Radeon RX 7000 cards, engineers had to rebuild the mathematical model for INT8 format integer data. This allowed the utilization of built-in hardware AI accelerators of RDNA 3 chips for graphics processing, which should solve the problem of image blurring and shimmering at low resolutions like 1080p, though performance hit on older chips might be higher. Developers promise improved frame stability compared to older algorithm versions that suffered from a grainy look. At the time of the July release, the technology will gain compatibility with a variety of current gaming projects via the SDK. The applied Nanite and Lumen technologies provide excellent detail of architecture and landscape and also reveal the strengths of various hardware architectures. Hardware measurements fixed the actual frame rate metrics of the equipment. The main sensation of the benchmark in 1080p resolution for the game Mortal Shell II was the confrontation between top solutions of past series. According to the results of our tests the previous AMD flagship represented by Radeon RX 7900 XTX managed to beat the previous NVIDIA flagship — GeForce RTX 4090. The accelerator from the red team demonstrated 146 FPS on average while the top green chip was left behind with a result of 144 FPS. Only the absolute flagship of the new generation ASUS GeForce RTX 5090 was located higher in the final chart for the game Mortal Shell II with an indicator of 173 frames per second. The new sub-flagship graphics card GeForce RTX 5080 delivered 141 FPS on average in this test almost catching up with the metrics of the previous NVIDIA leader. Quite often new teams are expected to produce analogues of The Witcher 3 with minimal funding and in less than 4 years. Small creative teams of the past possessed discipline and effectively developed innovative franchises. The current management of Eidos studio makes a high quality revival of the Deus Ex series highly unlikely.
