Be Sony buy Funimation and Crunchyroll, merge the two closing down Funimation, announce your abandoning physical media and production of discs. Start removing movies from PlayStation and delisting anime from Crunchyroll.

I feel you, I tend not to get collectors editions not only for space reasons but I find the contents rarely justify the price and as cool as the statues can be I find the quality is a bit of a let down.
Saying that, if The Witcher 4 or something releases with an awesome collectors edition I'll likely bite the bullet and get it anyway lmao I'll figure the space out later

Curious question to the people who hunt older games. How do you decide what your limit is on paying for an older game?
Full disclosure I'm a bit of stingy twat when it comes to second hand games I always struggle to justify paying money unless it just looks a big bargain. How do you determine the value and how much you'll pay for it?

According to Jérémy ZELER-MAURY, CTO at NACON and previous CEO at Midgar Studio, posted on LinkedIn.
“Today, Midgar Studio comes to an end.
This is not the message I had hoped to write.
I had hoped to come back here and announce that we had found an acquirer. Unfortunately, the court has now ordered the liquidation of Midgar Studio.
Over the past few weeks, we worked until the very end to find a solution that could preserve both the company and the team.
Despite every avenue explored and everyone who tried to help us, no solution could be completed within the timeframe of the process.”

@lazyjusten Haha yeah but I see old and new games differently. I'd be strangely comfortable paying £80 for a new game but not above £20 for an older one even if the older one has more content.
If I had the space I'd probably be buying that edition of P4R myself.

@GameNewsDiscuss Yeah agreed but it’s just really tough. You could buy one $100 game for the collection. Or you could buy 4-5 $15-$20 games for the collection.
At the same time I’m about to spend $250 on Persona 4 Revival so it’s weird.

@lazyjusten I agree, I don't think I could justify £100+ for a second hand game. I'd have to really really want it to even consider it.
I feel like I'm always waiting for a mega bargain that very rarely happens on the online marketplaces. Maybe I need to amend my expectations somewhat.

@GameNewsDiscuss It’s really hard to spend big money on games for the collection but it really just comes down to how much you want it. I think $50 is my limit tho. Just hurts to much to spend $100+ on games I’m not really going to play much. Could put that towards new games.

I think it was good idea, they released a cheap entry point into the generation and decent priced subscription with a massive library so it was the cheapest, most convenient entry point into the generation. It worked for a lot of people but it's not a huge needle mover.
Problem was as soon as they started to have a good pipeline of first party games they went straight to multiplatform.
The only way imo, they can maybe survive the blowback of butchering gamepass is guaranteeing everything but the odd big multiplayer game (not Halo or Forza) stay exclusive. Only then if they persist with it could they start clawing back into competing. Being wishy washy with exclusives while devaluing their strongest asset will just kill them.

Yeah I think they started it way too strong. I don’t think it actually moves any consoles, it just cannibalises the sales of their first party games 😅
It’s gonna be hard to do but I definitely think they need to remove day and date before project helix comes out. Take the blowback now 😂

So where do we stand on this? What's the cure? Approx 30 million people sub to gamepass. You can rough drop that by around 10 million if they cancel day and date because there will be a lot of cancellations. Gamepass has been a system seller for many, removing the appeal would be like cutting their own legs off.
First studio Xbox games don't have a huge pick up rate to begin with it'll just get worse when people have to pay for them again, the last few years I've played Hellblade 2, Doom, Keeper, Avowed, South of Midnight, Oblivion R, Forza and I wouldn't have bought any of them day 1 an in hindsight I'd only buy Oblivion, SOM and Forza on sale as I don't care for the rest. Fable is the only upcoming game I'd buy day 1. PlayStation players have proven no one really cares to buy most of Xbox first party titles.
Gamepass might be the only reason Xbox still exists, do you take the risk in sabotaging it to appease the devs that can't release appealing games to begin with? What is the actual answer?

Studios' leadership within Xbox detest Game Pass, according to Jason Schreier “There are a lot of people out there in studio leadership within Xbox who absolutely detest Game Pass and think it has destroyed the value of their games. Think it has taken away from the value of all games in general just as a service and just has contributed a lot of just; it's been a detriment to the games industry and those people's views because of how it devalues games.” Jason speculates Game Pass will move away from Day One games in the future. “I think they keep it going, but at some point they're just going to remove day-one sales cuz that makes no sense anymore.”

Man it’s such a bad time to be a fan of physical media when this shit happens and the physicals go out of stock and people head to EBay to raise all of the prices dramatically to sell.

@RealRaegus Tbf PS Plus also gives you free monthly games and Gamepass was advertised with day and date, you can't take that away and continue to charge the same price without people unsubbing in droves regardless of if there's still value there

Jason Schreier's latest podcast describes how many Xbox studio heads "detest" Xbox Game Pass, and feel as though it devalues their games.
