@SGVNSports Fred, stop with the “get” comments. That just encourages the cheating of the system and makes it a norm not an anomaly. Just because some schools cheat and “get” players, doesn’t mean it is okay. Rewrite it. Reword it. Don’t support it.

@randykunin @latsondheimer If I may- you are very much correct. Burn out for ADs is a big deal. They either step away because they cannot do it all at the level they want/should OR they half-a— it and let so many things go, not caring. District and boosters are the biggest factors in this.

@latsondheimer 1000% Athletics struggle and challenged with teachers who give 20% time to AD role with 25+ sports and 60+ teams across levels. Result: POOR Coach/staff searches, hiring, development Monitoring practices/games Facilities maintenance Timely crisis support Booster club support

This isn’t going to over well at schools that have been using AD position to get coaches paid more. Let’s say football and basketball

@latsondheimer It is completely about teaching and AD. CIF sections and state have been preaching about this for over a decade. I mean you are a journalist, try calling Mike and asking him!

I noticed that the NCAA brought in some media to do a mock selection bracket. This might not be a bad idea for the CIFSS to bring in some media members to explain how they construct brackets and (this would be great) how many At-Large teams can be divided equally into divisions.

@SGVNSports All the playoffs should be higher seed is home. At least the Open Division is doing it right.

What I don't like about the Open Division is now you're in the quarterfinals, knockout round like every other division. La Mirada won on the road and Harvard Westlake won at home. In every other division La Mirada would get the home game in the semifinals. For whatever reason, seeds take priority in the Open knockout rounds so La Mirada is on the road again. Fourth straight road game in the playoffs. C'mon man.

@overtime This is a joke. If I recall, they lost to So Carl’s St John Bosco…and Bosco got knocked out of the playoffs first round. If they can’t beat our #16 team, how can they claim to be champs w/o playing CA’s State Champs? What a farce!

To be a public school high school football coach is to be putting others first, to stay positive no matter the bureaucracy, to keep sacrificing in the face of repeated obstacles. It's not a job for everybody. But at its best, it must be fulfilling.

@SGVNSports Good! There’s so much fraud and the schools are helping. Hold them all to be accountable. And sports media- not necessarily you, need to stop acting like it’s a great “get”.

Have heard from multiple athletic directors that the CIF-SS has been more demanding this year in asking for additional proof on change of address transfers.
