Just a few thoughts and tings about music promotion

@Daddyphatsnaps Yeah I think everyone also gets stuck in what they think they have to do for short form content. You can break the mold for that as well! You don’t have to follow the crowd! It might not get as much views but if your goal is happiness do it in a way that makes you happy!

You dont have to do anything you dont want to...but it is very simple. Youtube alone with no other promotion is not enough to allow your music to reach it full potential audience. The algorithm has changed. You can release an incredible song and you will still be facing an upward battle to even reach your OWN subscribers. Now you may not care about maximizing your reach. And if you dont by all means dont do it. But as somebody who has seen the power of short form in action I choose to figure out a path that makes sense for me. You don't even need to look at our community. The biggest artists in the world are leveraging social media to bolster there releases and content...AND THEY HAVE THE CONNECTIONS. I struggled with it myself at the beginning, but instead of writing it off I have worked to find ways that make it enjoyable for me. In short, you don't have to do it. But I work really hard at the music I make, and I want to give it the chance to reach people that don't know who I am. So I get up and I turn on the camera. Its no coincidence that the person that has been going the hardest in the paint for short form is now having a world wide blowup.

@GameboyJones Yeah 100%. There are people that love rapping but hate mixing, hate making beats. So you gotta figure it out. You wanna make youtube videos, but hate editing and recording. You dont have to FORCE yourself to do any of that, but if you want the final product you gotta do SOMETHING

@GameboyJones Yep. Promotion is Key. You can't make a living out of this shit if nobody hears your music, point blank period. If you got the money then, buy ad's. Hire someone to do the short form for you. If you don't have the extra funds, then you gotta figure SOMETHING out.

@GameboyJones We’ve been saying for years to be authentic in your work/content/music and personally I think that should apply to all areas, if the marketing and advertising is inauthentic as well it’s probably going to in-effective, just the same as inauthentic music is

@GameboyJones I think this brings us to the issue of defining successful, because that means different things to different people, and again, never said you didn’t have to work hard, but working hard and not enjoying your work aren’t the same, you can enjoy hard work

@Connor_Quest But that’s everything in life! People don’t want to work but you want a roof over your head. A person who likes to cook and wants to open a restaurant still has to promote it to get customers. Everything in life has give and take

@GameboyJones It’s not free when it’s at the cost of your passion/enjoyment of the art would be my only addition! Tax on the body and mind when mindlessly grinding out content you have no connection too just cause it’s ’the best way to promote’, also shouts to live stuff we gotta do that more!
